I can't believe my office has turned into highschool big time in the past few weeks. I mean there is the usual rumor mill going, but this is getting a bit much. Let me start w a lil background.

I work in an office where we deal with mortgage co's who have foreclosed/vacant properties and they need someone (us) to send a contractor out to the property to perform any maintainence, make sure the prop is secure, fix any needed repairs needed to put the prop back on the market etc etc..
I'm in the invoicing dept, where we get all the contractors (reps for here on out) invoices match them to the work orders and make sure they get paid and we bill the mort co.

So, my story:
In the last few weeks a fellow co-worker (female) and I have become friends - in the respect if i did something for her, she'd do something for me. and yes, she got a bf and i've got a gf, and both of who are very aware of our friendship. The kicker is, another co-worker is extremely jelous of our "relationship" (my boss actually pull my friend into a meeting to mention that we're both taken and she needs to be careful) because i don't really talk to this other person anymore. This "other' person is in her 40's and is my bosses sister, which kinda rots, and my friend is closer to my age (she's 30 and im 25) and she's practically my neighbor. Its gotten to the point where this other person is bitching about me behind my back and not telling me about any problems with my work and i don't do a goddamn thing other than talk to my friend, sorry i get along with a co-worker..jesus christ.....but i've got to head back to hell (work - wasn't sure i'd say that but i guess with certain co-workers kinda makes it seem that way). I'll continue this at some point - i may need stryder to remind me as i'm seldom on here (stupid dial-up back at the house)

Damn, that's got to make things rather uncomfortable to say the least. I've found myself in that position a couple times in life, but don't have a real answer for it other than standing firm. It's apparent she has her own issues, but as long as you continue business as usual the only person who'll suffer from her actions is her. Sometimes reacting in a situation like this will cloud perseption to the others around as to who the real problem is. So just stay your normal self and as time goes by, she'll just make more of an ass of herself and lose all credibilty from her antics. It seems from what you already stated, it's already going that way somewhat.

I agree with Stryder... keep true to yourself and your true "motives" which is purely friendship.... allow the "viper" to get her's in the end and move on..

well as a little bit of an update, things (as of earlier today) have gotten a little better, apparently this jelous co-worker is the type who feels they need to be included into groups (i.e likes to have office friends) so my friend and I (her idea that was brought up by the owner of the co) decided to stop ignoring her (i used to go to her for help but have stopped as she's began "stepping on my toes" meaning handling issues with my work and not letting me know anything) but now we're "including" her and she's stopped being a pain in the ass, but we'll see how next week is so far so good...i guess
